Two radio adverts for a firm of solicitors escaped sanction from the Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) after it decided not to uphold listener complaints.
The two adverts for BGR Bloomer featured narratives from two people likely to cause an accident - both of whom say "I am an accident waiting to happen" - and featured the words "if you're injured at work and it's not your fault you could get compensation".
However, some listeners complained that the advert was misleading as they implied the people speaking in the ads could apply for compensation in case of injury.
The ASA did not uphold the complaint, pointing out that the advert did not lend itself to an interpretation which suggested that the two "accidents waiting to happen" would contact a solicitor.
Other listeners also complained that the adverts condoned and trivialised dangerous behaviour and were offensive for portraying the dangerous behaviour as humorous.
The ASA said the humorous tone was used to describe the narrator's careless character and did not condone their behaviour and was in fact used to distance the listener from the dangerous drivers.
