Barclaycard has developed a new green credit card to be launched in the summer that aims to offer homeowners incentives to be more environmentally-friendly.
The provider states the card has been launched following product research into consumer demand for easier ways to be green.
A survey of consumers found that almost a third said they were either "not very confident" or "totally lacking in confidence" with regards to helping the environment.
Elizabeth Chambers, chief marketing officer for Barclaycard, commented: "We are proud to be the first leading bank to offer a card that will help customers reduce carbon emissions, donate to green causes and give incentives to buy green products.
"We think this product will have strong appeal to customers around the world and plan to roll it out globally over time."
The product research also found that one in eight people believe climate change to be an important issue while a third said that incentives to buy green products would help them lead environmentally-friendly lifestyles.
Recent research from YouGov found that most consumers do not know which activities lead to the most CO2 emissions.
