Around one in four Britons (24 per cent) is planning on cutting back on the travel insurance services when they go on holiday this year, new research shows.
According to a survey by American Express Insurance Services, a further 48 per cent of UK consumers plan to cut back on other financial services too.
Chris Rolland, head of the company's insurance arm, said that this widespread withdrawal from insurance marketing is due to the rising costs of living.
However, he warned: "Our research shows that one in four Brits are struggling to meet the cost of holiday insurance.
"If it is a case of people cutting back on travel insurance in order to afford their holidays then perhaps they should think twice before booking."
Meanwhile, according to holiday accommodation company Alpharooms.com's marketing manager Gareth Hockney, record numbers of Britons are set to head off overseas this year to do their Christmas shopping on a budget.
