Insurance provider Churchill has admitted that it misled customers in a recent advertising campaign, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has revealed.
A insurance marketing campaign featuring the brand's Churchill bulldog explicitly suggested that customers would not be required to fill in any forms when making a claim on their home insurance.
However, one viewer challenged Churchill after receiving a form in the post when he attempted to make a claim.
Clearcast, the body responsible for approving transmission scripts for broadcast, explained that the insurer had failed to inform them that up to 20 per cent of claimants could still be required to fill in forms.
The ASA "reminded Churchill of their duty to ensure that all relevant information was provided to the clearance centres" for future marketing communications.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the insurer said: "Churchill has not screened the ads since June and has taken actions to ensure the claims do not appear in any future marketing campaigns."
Churchill will not be allowed to broadcast the ad again in its current form.
