A City law firm is seeking to expand its links with Africa by creating an alliance with a South African practice.
Denton Wilde Sapte is close to completing a deal with Sandton-based Glyn Marais, which will see the two set up an association by the start of 2009, reports Legal Week.
While it is Dentons' first move into South Africa, it has connections with other legal services on the continent, including Algeria, Ghana and Botswana.
"If [the alliance] is concluded [Glyn Marais] would join our existing network of nine associate firms in Africa to provide our clients an even fuller service across the continent," a spokesman for Dentons told the publication.
While the company is attempting to increase its African presence, it already has a number of offices and 600 lawyers across Europe and the Middle East, as well as the UK.
The firm claims to cover the "full range of commercial legal services".
