Online shopping is becoming increasingly popular around the world, especially in the run up to Christmas, and Deloitte has attempted to use that fact to build its profile.
The company's security and privacy experts have got together to provide consumers with advice on how to make sure they shop safely online.
According to the financial services firm, many credit companies now offer increased security to take into account the popularity of online shopping.
"This added layer of protection requires the cardholder to enter a pre-registered personal identification number (PIN) only the customers would know, at time of purchase," the company said.
Additionally, consumers should "avoid using public internet cafes" and "look for 'seal of approval' icons" on the websites they are using.
Deloitte also had advice for online retailers, including making sure that they ask for the three digit security code on the back of cards.
KPMG and the British Retail Consortium (BRC) launched an online retail sales indicator earlier this month, highlighting the growing popularity of the channel.
