Financial providers and insurers wanting to target travellers by destination could find good use in a new in-tunnel advertising system being installed in a tunnel to Heathrow.
A 450-metre stretch of a six-mile tunnel the Heathrow Express train travels through is being fitted with a light emitting diode (LED) display that will deliver 15-second-long adverts to travellers.
The new system has the advantage that it gives advertisers the ability to change the advert being displayed with relative ease, allowing for four different adverts an hour to be seen.
This could allow advertisers to present passengers to or from different destinations with different adverts.
Greame Hay, commercial manager at Heathrow Express, said: "It's extraordinary what can be achieved with today's technology and we're excited to be the first company in Europe to advance the technology by installing an LED system.
"The installation will upgrade the quality of service we can provide to those who choose to advertise with us, enabling them to effectively target multiple audiences from the same site."
