Companies may want to invest in advertising on financial news websites, after new figures revealed they have seen a large increase in traffic during the current economic turmoil.
A study by comScore found that there were 8.8 million visitors to financial news and research sites in September, reflecting growth of ten per cent from August.
This meant any financial services advertising located on the sites would have seen a large increase in exposure.
Some sites, including Guardian Business, Sky Money and CNN Money, saw a more than 100 per cent increase in the amount of traffic they received.
"Because of the immediacy in reporting real-time fluctuations in the financial markets, Europeans have become increasingly reliant on financial news websites for the most up-to-the minute information," said comScore Europe managing director Herve Le Jouan.
He added that the internet sites were now the "go-to resource" for people interested in the financial markets, making them a good place to advertise to potential clients.
