Law firms should educate and involve all of their staff in their marketing efforts to increase business, an expert has claimed.
Stacy West Clark explained on Law.com that everyone in the company, aside from the lawyers themselves, should be part of the marketing department.
"Try not to think of them as your employees but rather as ambassadors for what you do as a lawyer," she wrote.
She also claimed that staff who are a part of the general marketing drive of the legal services firm will generally have better morale, lower turnover and will have enhanced relationships with clients.
This involvement should begin at any prospective employee's job interview.
"At that time, a potential hire should be told by your human resources employee that his or her duties will include marketing activities, and, if hired, he or she will be expected to act as an ambassador of the firm," she wrote.
"He or she must dress, act and speak in such a way that reflects well on the firm."
Following this, it is vital to train the person in what is required of them in marketing terms.
