A London-based legal firm is about to launch in Russia as it finishes up a deal with one of the country's top companies.
Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) is to offer its legal services as soon as its agreement with Andrey Goltsblat of Pepeliaev, Goltsblat & Partners is concluded, Legal Week reports.
The move will see some of the Russian firm's partners move across to BLP.
"We want to create a unique capability in the region combining our strengths in English and Russian law," a BLP spokesman told the magazine.
He added: "We remain committed to the preferred firms approach. This strategy is complementary to that."
BLP recently announced that it had advised Mid Europa Partners (MEP) on its buying of a further stake in the Falcon Group, which means it nearly has a 75 per cent interest in the company.
MEP is one of the top private equity firms in central and eastern Europe, according to BLP.
