Businesses should focus on creating a "great user experience" on their websites to attract more customers, according to Fortune Cookie.
Internet marketing should also match a firm's offline branding, the website design company's managing director, Justin Cooke, explains.
He claims that users should "really enjoy the experience" of visiting the website and designers should strive to make them "findable, desirable, credible, usable and accessible".
"The way that you can make users advocate to use your site is to create a great user experience," he explained.
Concentrating on the website design aspect of professional services marketing could also put firms ahead of their competitors in terms of search engine optimisation (SEO).
Commenting in Personnel Today, James Saunders of 4MAT noted that blue chip firms have not yet "broken the back" of SEO.
