SEO targets delegates at Russian rendez-vous

Published: 13 December 2007

Search Engine Optimisation (“SEO”) has become such a powerful marketing tool that M Consulting’s chief executive was invited to give a workshop on its merits at a high profile conference in Russia.

Steve Manton FCII FCIM, presented the workshop to delegates from around the world, who attended the V1 Russian Insurance and Reinsurance Rendez-Vous, which was designed to showcase the opportunities the Russian insurance industry can offer and examine its rapid growth and huge potential.

Steve’s presentation focussed on the importance of online marketing, which has grown rapidly over the last few years with research showing that 91 per cent of Internet buyers now turn to search engines to find the products or services they want.

Companies who have threaded their web content with SEO key words will find their company rises to the top of search engine natural searches without their having to resort to pay per click or sponsored links.

Steve said: “My presentation was designed to raise awareness of the benefits of SEO to the main players in the Russian, Eastern and Baltic states and to explain how the UK insurance market has embraced online marketing to great effect.

“The importance of SEO should not be underestimated and companies who are not embracing it will find their marketing strategy lagging behind the competition.

“Studies have found that purchasers are 12 times more likely to buy products and services after finding a site through a search engine than all other traditional advertising methods combined and this includes trade shows, printed adverts, direct mail, radio and even television.

“Another benefit of SEO is that it is a relatively cheap way to market your business. Your company will carry more weight in the mind of the consumer as they know they are clicking through to the company with the goods and services most relevant to what they are searching for.”
